Accra Hearts of Oak beat the ‘Millenium Team’ 4-2 in the Impartation Match played at the Accra sports stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The game wich was the second on the day saw coach Kenichi’s men pitch their strength against a combined team of former Hearts of Oak players who won the CAF Champions League, Super Cup as well as the CAF Confederations Cup.
The motive of the match according to the organizers was to help bring back the good old days where the team was feared by all in Ghana and beyond. Also it was to afford the former players a chance to impart some knowledge to the present crop of Hearts players.
This match, the first of its kind ever to be organized in Ghana, saw former players like of Joe Ansah, Yaw Amakwaah Mireku, Sammy Adjei, Charles Taylor, Bernard Dong Bortey, Frank Turkson, Acquah Harrison, Wisdom Abbey, Jacob Nettey, Michael Donkor, Kwame Antwi, Dan Quaye, Laud Quartey, Wisdom Agblexo, Justice Ampah, Adjebu Lawson, Eden Dida, James Nanor and a few other players in attendance, an action that thrilled the fans who came in their numbers to see their former heroes.
A few player like Emanuel Agyemang Duah, Charles Allotey, and a host of others could not play in the match due to health reason, but were there to offer their support.
The match also brought together a host of former and present Hearts of Oak Board and Management members. Alhaji Hearts, Nii Ayi Bonte II, Stephen Akwetey, Nyaho Tamakloe are but a few of the names that made their way to the Accra sports stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The game was played in a friendly atmosphere with both sides enjoying themselves, especially the Millenium Team who showed glimpses of their former self.
The likes of Dong Bortey, Charles Taylor, Sammy Adjei and Dan Quaye were a delight to watch.
At the end of the game the Phobians managed to ship 4 goals past their senior colleagues who could only score two in the process.
Hearts goals were scored by Foovi Aguidi and Selasi Adjei. The Millenium team had Wisdom Agblexo and Adjebu Lawson getting the two goals.
