Accra Hearts Of Oak has lost focus, leadership and are clueless, this is the verdict of a former Phobian who believes his old employers need to put their house in order if they want to be taken seriously.
Hearts are yet to win against an equally good opposition of a better opposition under manager and Japanese-American tactician, Kenichi Yatshuashi. The Accra based club exited the First Trust G6 tourney after drawing 0 – 0 in their first game against Aduana stars and lost by a goal to nil against Medeama SC in the second match.
Media report has it that coach Keni was tasked with the battle of winning the GHALCA First Trust G6 title but failed woefully. The fans have not been happy with the attitude of the players and top of it all the appointment of Yatshuashi as head coach.
Kotoko’s recent performances even with a divided team has impressed many who have tipped the porcupine warriors as Ghana premier league favourites to recapture the trophy they lost to Regional rivals, Ashgold.
Former Accra hearts of oak defender and captain, Dan Quaye has expressed worry on the current state of his former club. In a radio interview with Boss Fm 93.7 in Kumasi, Quaye said, “I’m not happy with Hearts current situation. You go outside (when the team travelled to Libya and lost 5-0 on aggregate to Al Ahli of Tripoli) on a pre-season training and return display absolutely nothing (from the performance they showed at the G6).
“Kotoko divided their team into two, one leaving for the international friendlies in Libya whilst the other competed and won in the just ended GHALCA G6 tournament.”
Dan Quaye attributed the victory to the experience of players like Eric Ofori Antwi who helped the team with their splendid performance at home (Ghana) and its this he has asked the hierarchy of Hearts of Oak to learn from.
The former Black stars defender was a member of the Great Olympics team that recently got relegated from the Ghana premier league.
