AshGold Financial Situation Not That Bad - Cudjoe Fianoo

Ashanti Gold Chief Executive Officer Cudjoe Fianoo has rubbished media reports that the club is financially handicapped.

AshGold, last season’s winners of the Ghana Premier league, will represent Ghana in the upcoming CAF inter-club football competition, Champions league.

But reports in the local media claim their African campaign which begins next month is in danger due to financial constraints.

But Cudjoe Fianoo says those reports are way of the mark. Though he admits the club actually face some financial problems because AngloGold Ashanti, financiers of of the club are going some changes, but the situations is not as bad painted in the media.

“It is not every Ghanaian that is interested in the mining industry, but the business world is aware that AngloGold Ashanti, the main financiers of our club are going through some changes,” Fianoo told Joy FM

“Now, the mines is not operating so definitely if you were used to getting money in three days now it will take four to five days but that doesn’t meant that they are not willing to help.”He said.

Cudjoe Fianoo believes that anxiety has set in because their CAF Champions league match against MO Bejaia is nigh, but the problems has no effect on the players focus on the match set for February 14.

“When the match day is getting near definitely there will be some panicking but the situation is not that bad, they still recognise the club as their own and they are doing everything possible to ensure that we do well in Africa.

“What is happening is not having an effect on the players and technical team, for them they are still on their preparations for next month’s game.”
