We’re Disappointed To Have Lost To Cameroun – Black Queens Coach
Cameroun’s national women team, indomitable Lioness were crowned the best female national team in Africa at the GLO/CAF award ceremony held in Abuja on Thursday.
The Lionesses beat off immediate competitor and perhaps revenged their All African games (AAG) final defeat at the hands of the Black Queens of Ghana who won. The central African country had a good 2015 in women football highlighted by their best performance at the world when many doubted their progress from the group stage.
The Lionesses returned home and was in the final of the AAG though they lost, they defeated the queens of African women football, the Super Falcons of Nigeria and were a torn in the flesh of the Black queens of Ghana.
Head coach of the Black queens of Ghana, Yussif Basigi, was not enthused when the Lionesses were recognised as the best female national team. In an interview with Boss fm 93.7 in Kumai, he said, “Cameroun’s female national It is quite disappointing that we (Black Queens) were ignored but winning Gold at the All African games is not enough (to win CAF best women national team).
The former Hassacas coach added. “Cameroon’s national women team won (CAF’s best women national team) simply because of their performance at the world cup. they performed better than Nigeria (at the FIFA women’s world cup) and I think that is what got them the recognition as best national female team.
The Indomitable Lioness have lost to Zimbabwe and have not been the same team after their heroics at the world”.
