"Football Is Currently Going Through Some Global Challenges"-Kwesi Nyantakyi

President of the West Africa Football Union, Kwesi football is currently going through some global challenges and that it’s the hope of CAF that with the new reforms in Fifa, they will grow from strength to strength.

Nyantakyi mentioned this during his opening speech at the West Africa Football Association congress held in Ghana on Tuesday at the Movenpick hotel in Accra.

” We acknowledge that football is currently going through some global challenges and it’s our hope that with the reforms in Fifa we will grow from strength to strength”, Mr. Nyantakyi mentioned.

“Our union has proven to be the strongest in Africa and that can be seen in our performance in continental competitions. The winner of the last AFCON, Côte D’Ivoire is a member of our Union and the losing finalists, Ghana is also from our zone”.

“I also wish to congratulate Nigeria for winning the Under 17 World Cup last year and for emerging as winners of the Under 23 tournament”, Mr. Nyantakyi stated in his opening remarks.

“We have seen improvement in organizing competitions. Last year we intended to organize a U-17 tournament in Burkina Faso, unfortunately, a week to the tournament there was a coup d’etat there so we called off the tournament. Burkina Faso has however expressed its readiness to host the competition this year which will be telecasted by Supersports”.

“Our zone has seen some challenges in Togo and Benin where there are currently normalization committees. We are hoping that very soon the issues will be resolved”.
