Christian Atsu might make his long-awaited debut for Chelsea in their FA Cup game against Scunthorpe United on Sunday.
The 23-year-old has been recalled from a disappointing loan spell from AFC Bournemouth where he failed to make a single Premier League appearance.
Atsu played in the Capital One Cup game for the Cherries but got injured in October and has not played since.
He could however be given the chance to play for the first time for Chelsea since his arrival in 2013 in the FA Cup match against Scunthorpe United this weekend.
Guus Hiddink is expected to use the game to give chances to most of the fringe players at the club including Baba Rahman.
The Dutch trainer wants to see every player in match situations before deciding on who is to stay or leave the club on loan or permanently in the January transfer window.
