Mubarak Wakaso remains proud of Andre Ayew despite CAF award disappointment

Mubarak Wakaso has urged his Black Stars teammate Andre Ayew to remain proud of his achievements despite missing out on winning the CAF African Player of the Year award.

The Swansea City star was thought to be a favourite going into the awards ceremony held on Thursday in Abuja.

But the award went to Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Ivorian star Yaya Toure coming in second place.

Many, especially Ghanaian fans were left massively disappointed when Andre Ayew was not named as winner of the prestigious award.

But Mubarak Wakaso wants the 25-year-old to keep his head up over his personal achievements.

“Still proud of you bro @andreayew10 [Andre Ayew] the whole Ghana is proud of family friend and your fans are all proud of you bro @andreayew10 only GOD decide who to give so be proud of yourself and keep working hard,” Wakaso who plays in Spain for Las Palmas posted on social media.
