Techiman City Won"t Be A Party To Illegality - Kofi Manu

Spokesman for Techiman City Football Club Kofi Manu, has rubbished former chief JY Appiah’s call for all clubs in the Brong Ahafo region to withdraw their membership from GHALCA for good.

Mr. J. Y Appiah told Clubs in the region to withdraw their membership from GHALCA after an Alhaji Raji was alleged to have passed discriminatory comments about Aduana Stars during the G-6 tournament in Sekondi.

According to the PRO of Aduana Stars, Appiah Kubi, Alhaji Raji labelled Aduana Stars a ‘village club’ who do not deserve to win the maiden edition of the GHALCA Six invitational tournament.

Berekum Chelsea adhered to JY Appiah’s call and suspended their membership from GHALCA.

But Mr. Kofi agrees that Alhaji Raji’s alleged stereotypical comments are distasteful for football, Clubs should ignore Appiah’s comments for the betterment of Ghana football.

“His (JY Appiah) action has no basis and the earlier he withdraws that threat, the better it would be for Ghana football.

“Yes, we all agree that what the GHALCA chairman said was not good and many have condemned it, but you do not base on that to say that what he said was against all Brong Ahafo clubs and so you would turn the clubs against the association,” Kofi Manu told Accra-based radio station, Asempa FM.

A member of GHALCA Kofi Poku said Alhaji Raji’s alleged  comments were individual opinion and not that of body. And Kofi Manu agrees with him.

“FIFA frowns on actions based on tribal sentiments. His actions is an infringement on the status of our own GFA. It is wrong for him to make a regional grouping and say they are pulling out of an association. For Techiman City, we will not be party to such a shame and an illegality.” He stated.
