Tom Strand Calls For Truthful And Fair Competition

Medeama SC head coach Tom Strand has called on the Ghana Football Association to give all teams in the Ghana Premier league the platform to compete level grounds.

The Ghana Premier League is one not without controversies every season, and Tom Strand believes the inability of the Ghana Football Association to manage issues arising has killed Ghana local football.

In 2014, the flagship competition in the country was delayed by about six months due to legal battle between the Ghana FA and King Faisal Babies and had to kick start in January 2015.

A similar issue this season has delayed the start of the new season and frustrated Tom Strand believes the FA has not given clubs level grounds to compete.

“[The start of every season ] has to be a regular thing on the Ghana Football calendar but it, it often suspended. I don’t think that it has to be this way, because it is unprofessional and I know that the GFA doesn’t want to hear this and certainly not Ghana people,” the Ditch technician told Otec FM.

“We want truthful and fair competition and especially professional and when we come to that point certainly Ghana football is going to rise up to be one of the best in Africa.” He said.

Tom Strand led Medeama SC to defeat Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Essipong sports stadium to win the MTN FA Cup.

The Ghana Premier League Board and GFA has scheduled February 20 for the commencement of the new premier league season.
