Senegalese International Heading To Manchester United
Southampton and Senegal forward, Sadio Mane has been linked with a move to Manchester united all summer and unsurprisingly the winter transfer has added more pressure to Southampton to consider their chances with their number 10.
Mane was missing out of action when the Saints travelled to Norwich city and lost by a lone goal from Norwegian international and Ghanaian born Alex Tettey. The Senegalese has been instrumental for the South coast side this season and has already been tagged as the saints player of the season but the rumour linking him with a move away from the Saint Mary stadium seems to be getting the better part of the 25 – year old.
Saints boss Ronald Koeman who held no punches back after his sides defeat at Carrow road spoke of his anger with the 23-year-old – and red-carded midfielder Victor Wanyama – after the 1-0 set-back at Carrow Road.
He said: “I have been let down by some key players.”
When he was asked about Mane’s ‘no show’ at the team meeting, Koeman added: “My last message to him was that he needed to be concentrated and focused. You have a responsibility as a player not just to me as the manager, but your teammates, fans and the technical staff to show respect.
“I am angry about players who are not focused and concentrated and that is even more disappointing than the result today. It is not the first time this has happened.”
United’s first win in nine matches has eased the pressure on Van Gaal and he has taken full advantage to ask vice-chairman Ed Woodward to deliver a creative, goal-scoring midfielder with pace, and United believe Mane offers proven value.
