Manchester United Young Defender Eligible To Play For Ghana
Timothy Fosu-Mensah, a young defender with a lot of appraisals for him at the age of 17 should tell all and sundry what a prospect he is and will be.
The centre-back caught United’s attention during the AEGON Future Cup when representing Ajax and has been described as a powerful and versatile defender with plenty of speed and athleticism to accompany natural ability on the ball by his manger, Paul McGuinness at Manchester United.
The Amsterdam-born centre half joined the Old Trafford academy from Ajax for £300,000 in the summer of 2014 and has impressed in the club’s youth teams with his reactions, athleticism and versatility.
Naturally a centre-back, he can cover in both fullback positions and in front of the defence – as a product of Ajax’s famous youth academy he is adept to being a versatile, confident, ball playing defender.
Fosu-Mensah has also shown his leadership qualities as captain for the Holland Under 17 team and is earmarked as one of his country’s stars to watch in the future. He has represented his country for 4 years, and featured for the Netherlands’ U15s at the age of 13 before he became a regular starter at U16s and U17s.
The 17-year old versatile youngster is yet to be cap-tied at the senior national level and with this consistency and improvement on his performance and talents, it is just a matter of before he causes a huge ‘war’ between the Oranje of Holland and the Ghana Black Stars.
