We’ve Quality In The Ghana Premier League
The state and quality of the Ghanaian premier league has been debated on both on and off the media as all stakeholders struggle to find solution to what many have called the decline of the Ghana premier league.
The various clubs have struggled to pull spectators to the various stadia and this has been attributed to the poor quality of players, poor football pitches and the exodus of players ho leave the league just after one good season.
The Ghana football association has been attacked for paying less attention to the league but like a norm, the football body have defended the league and questioned on what basis these critics believe the Ghana league is poor.
The president of the Ghana football association and recently elected chairman of the West African football union zone B, Kwesi Nyatankyi who has been labelled as the one responsible for the decline of the league compared the Ghana league to the South African premier soccer league in terms of the quality shown.
This view of the GFA president has also been shared by football administrator and lawyer, Kweku Ahia who doubts those critics have even been to the stadium to see what they call poor display.
In an interview with Kumasi based radio, Boss FM 93.7, he said, “On what basis do people claim Ghana football has been destroyed, I ask myself. anyone who says our standard of game, league or play many who claim such have never seen a game at the stadium.
“You journalists should be able to inform them on the contrary. When you see the game on television you see just one side of the game unlike you watching from the stadium then you can make a valid point on what is the state of our game.”
“Our league is not below par, if u come to the stadium u will admire the talent and quality on display,” he added.
The start to the new league season is still unknown due legal issues involving Techiman city, Tema Youth and Dreams FC.
Verdict: It"s A Lie, Ghana"s League Is Not Poor - Football Administrator
