Black Stars defender Rashid Sumaila, has vehemently denied allegations that, he was the reason behind Jerry Akaminko’s injury during preparations for the 2014 World Cup in Brasil.
Akaminko, it will be recalled got injured in a pre-World Cup preparations match against Holland and has been on the treatment table for the past two years.
A Tarkoradi based Mallam Issaka claimed Sumaila consulted him ahead of the world to cause an injury to Akaminko so the former Kotoko will be considered for a place in the final 23-man squad.
Speaking in an interview, Sumaila, the allegations were blatant lies aimed at tarnishing his hard won reputation.
“I am daring that malam to come and face me with his allegations. I am ready to swear with the Koran since he is also a moslem.
“He should swear by the Koran that i ever consulted him for any form of spiritual assistance. I can never do such a thing to my fellow player.” He stated.
According to the player, if he had any spiritual powers he would have used that to enhance his career by playing for Chelsea on Manchester United.
“If i have juju why did’nt i used it to charm the coach to grant me a starting place in the team at the World Cup?.
“I was a bench warmer through out the competition, why did nt i use to charm the coach to use me as a first team player”. Sumaila queried.
Sumaila, said there was even no need for juju to get a place in the team, because he was a sure since four central defenders are needed for any competition.
